Scam With Your Friends supports one to eight players per lobby. Hotfix 2 states that lobby sizes now range from 1–8, with the limits enforced correctly. You can play alone or join an online co-op session with other players.
This applies to the Steam game developed by JakeHub and Metater and published by Jatater Worldwide, Steam app 4954910. It does not establish the player limit for a different publisher's same-title listing.
Use the current lobby range
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Minimum lobby size | 1 player |
| Maximum lobby size | 8 players |
| Can you play alone | Yes, single-player is supported |
| Can you play online with others | Yes, online co-op and public lobbies are supported |
| Does every hosted room have eight free spaces | No; check how many players have joined and whether the room can accept you |
The published range is the game's supported lobby size. It should not be read as a requirement to gather a full group. You can play alone or with others while staying within the eight-player limit.

Check the room you are joining
Eight is the overall maximum, but it does not tell you how many players have already joined a particular room. Check the current player count and read any joining error the game displays.
A lobby invitation does not override the eight-player limit. If joining fails, read the exact message and ask the host to confirm that the room can accept another player rather than assuming the invitation itself is broken.
Public lobbies provide player-count filters. The browser also offers country filtering and My version first sorting. These controls help you narrow the available sessions, but a filter is not a promise that a particular room will remain available while you select it.
Solo play is supported
Single-player is an official mode. You can learn the office, answer fictional AI callers, and work toward the daily quota without assembling a group of friends first.
Broadband internet is still listed as a requirement. “Single-player” describes the people participating in the workday; it does not establish a fully offline mode. The game uses a third-party AI content-generation service, so do not treat the absence of other players as evidence that all conversation features operate without a connection.
No verified formula for how quota or difficulty scales with group size is provided here. A target shown in a solo video is a target from that run, not a published rule for calculating the target in your eight-player session.
Why older answers give another number
Older material can describe the playtest instead of the current Early Access build. A statement that a tester could invite three friends was about access to that test. It was not a statement that four players were the permanent maximum lobby size.
Some early descriptions also said that the maximum had not been confirmed. That uncertainty has been superseded by the Hotfix 2 statement of a one-to-eight range. Use the current limit when planning your group, while still checking the room you actually host.
Do not count workstations in a screenshot to calculate multiplayer capacity. A camera angle can hide desks, show non-player coworkers, or come from a different build. A visible office scene is not an authoritative lobby-limit display.
Keep the game identity consistent
A same-title Xbox listing names Hidden Floor Games as its developer and publisher and describes a six-player office. That does not match the developers and publisher of Steam app 4954910. Its six-player description should not replace the current one-to-eight limit for this game.
Likewise, a Discord community member count is unrelated to lobby capacity. You can organize a session through the Jatater Worldwide community, but the number of people online in that server does not change how many players can enter one workday.
For your group, the practical check is simple: use the current Steam build, stay within the supported range, and ask the host to confirm that the session can accept joining players before distributing its invitation.
