Workshop Not Working

Quick Answer

If Steam Workshop is not working in Scam With Your Friends, separate downloading a caller, uploading your own caller, and keeping a caller connected to Daily Callers.

If Steam Workshop is not working in Scam With Your Friends, separate downloading a caller, uploading your own caller, and keeping a caller connected to Daily Callers. The hotfixes addressed different failures in those areas: stuck uploads blocking other uploads, uploaded callers losing their Daily Callers connection after restarting, and installed Workshop callers downloading again unnecessarily.

There is no verified universal repair or manual cache path to give here. A caller missing from the daily selection does not by itself prove that its Workshop download failed.

Identify the operation that fails

Describe the action that stops before repeating an upload or changing the daily selection.

What you are trying to doRelevant confirmed change
Upload a custom callerStuck Workshop uploads no longer block other caller uploads
Keep an uploaded caller connected after a restartA fix addressed uploaded callers losing their Daily Callers connection
Use an installed Workshop callerHotfix 2 prevents unnecessary repeated downloads
Refresh the default daily selectionResetting Daily Callers now refreshes the latest defaults
Edit an existing callerExisting callers are edited through Daily Callers

These are the documented changes. They do not provide a full subscription or upload walkthrough, nor establish the cause of every missing caller.

Check the Workshop hotfixes

Confirm that Steam has finished installing available game updates. This is a general client check, but the updates themselves directly address caller handling.

For uploads, the first fixes addressed a stuck Workshop upload blocking other caller uploads. If you still cannot upload after updating, record whether one upload is stuck and whether other uploads are affected. Do not assume that creating duplicate submissions will resolve it.

For installed callers, Hotfix 2 prevents callers already installed through Workshop from downloading again unnecessarily. A repeated download symptom should therefore be described alongside the installed version and whether the caller was previously usable.

The announcement does not supply a manual download directory or instructions to replace the game's Workshop files. Do not borrow those details from CS2 or Golf With Your Friends: their Workshop content and integration are different.

Keep Workshop installation separate from Daily Callers

A Workshop caller and its presence in Daily Callers are related, but they are not the same observation. The first hotfix specifically fixed uploaded custom callers losing their Daily Callers connection after restarting.

If a caller was present before closing the game and missing afterward, include that sequence in your report. If it was never present, state that instead. The distinction avoids treating every selection issue as a failed download.

Daily Callers can be cleared without enabling random community callers. Hotfix 2 also makes resetting Daily Callers refresh the latest defaults. Those actions change the daily selection; they are not documented as a universal repair for a Workshop transfer that never completes.

Use the current editing entry point

Hotfix 2 changed the Character Creator so that it opens directly into creating a caller. Existing callers are edited through Daily Callers. The separate Localize Voice buttons were removed.

If an older guide sends you to a removed button, do not assume the game has failed to install. Use the current entry point for the task you are actually performing. This change explains an interface difference; it does not establish a complete caller JSON format or voice upload procedure.

No verified Caller JSON schema, WAV sampling requirement, or precise file import sequence is available here. Avoid changing a caller file based on an unrelated template merely because Workshop fails to display it.

Record a remaining Workshop problem

Useful details include the installed game version, whether the action was an upload or download, the exact message shown, and whether the caller appears in Daily Callers. Note whether restarting changes the result and whether the same problem affects one caller or several.

For an uploaded caller, describe whether it previously kept its Daily Callers connection. For an installed caller, describe whether the game repeatedly tries to download it. These observations map directly to the documented fixes without claiming an unsupported cause or guaranteed solution.
